15 States in 24 days
We are headed home! Our last night was spent in Effingham, Illinois. We have 320 miles to travel today and will be Home Sweet Home. I think Steve and I could go for a couple more weeks but the boys are ready to be home. We asked them if they would do it again and they said yes so I guess it wasn't too bad. Lol. We saw and did so many things its hard to think back to those first few days and remember where you were but the pictures will help. The highlights for the boys were the whitewater rafting trip and the go-karts. Savy enjoyed seeing her Great Grandpa and her Grandma! Steve loved it all and my favorite part was probably Moab and the Arches. I would love to have had more time in Santa Fe, I think it is a place I could really enjoy.
Mom and Dad are gonna leave a little later than us and take their time getting home. We have all the kids in the GMC and the GPS set for Home.
Thanks for reading our blog it was fun to update and read your comments. It was a bit tough to update at times along with the other chores of traveling but I know many of you appreciated seeing our journey. I will finish the last set of pictures and add another video or two so check back to see it when you can.
Happy 4th Everyone! See you soon!

On the road again...
Sorry I haven't written in a couple days. It has been busy. We had a little car trouble on our drive from Texas to Oklahoma. We barely made it into the campground as Steve drove with white knuckles hoping we wouldn't breakdown. Turned out to be the alternator which lucky for us Steve is a handy guy and was able to buy the part and install it himself. Otherwise our stay could have been lengthy and therefore costly.
Our stay in Texas was brief but nice. The campground was one of the nicest we've stayed at and also the cheapest. The laundry was only .50 cents and they had new machines. They had a pool and hot tub located at one end of the campground. We decided to check it out and found no one there so we got a couple of pizzas and had a little pizza party. We all got in the hot tub as we watched the sun go down. It was very nice and relaxing. I did laundry after an awesome shower. All the showers we're individual and very clean! After a good night sleep Ben Frazier and I got up for a run. We did 3 miles. Ben ran ahead of me and had a nice pace...kids just make it look so easy. We got packed up and Savy and I headed to the pool for a little sunshine before traveling. I could have stayed at that campground for a couple days it was so nice!
We left for Oklahoma at 11: 30am and arrived around 4:30. It was HOT! This campground didn't have a pool and was definitely the weather to have one. Steve and I joined Mom and Dad for dinner at the Cattle man's Steakhouse while the kids stayed at the campground. It was nice for us to enjoy a nice steak dinner out on our vacation. The company was pretty great too! : )
The next day we decided to visit the Oklahoma City bombing memorial before a family fun day at Celebration Station. The Memorial was very moving. We discussed with the kids what happened that day and the events leading up to it and after. The museum looked to be very detailed but was quite costly and not something we had budgeted for. So we walked the grounds and tried to explain the best we could. The number of personal items attached to the fence by loved ones was very touching and definitely stirred emotions.
We had promised the kids a trip to an amusement park or waterpark so we sought one out while in Oklahoma. Neither park really excited them so they decided they would really like to ride go-carts. We found a place called Celebration Station with unlimited go-kart rides, bumper boats and a pizza & pop buffet. The kids loved it!!!! Steve and I even got into the action and rode the go-karts in many races. We were there from 3:30 until 11:00 pm, the kids couldn't get enough!
Today we are headed to Topeka, Kansas and will arrive about 3:30. Mom and Dad broke off and are headed to Mayetta for an evening of gambling. We gave Dad 7 bucks (all the cash I had on me) to play some video poker and win BIG! Lol, we can only hope! Good Luck to them we hope they Do win big!!!
Soon after we arrive Ben and Savy and I are going to jump back in the car and head for Leavenworth, Kansas to visit their Great Grandfather on their Dad's side. He is 86 years old and says health is not doing so well although he sounds sharp as a tack! Bill's Mom is also here in Kansas but has to work this evening so we are gonna stop by her work to visit for a few and get some Grandma hugs. The kids are looking forward to seeing some of their family they haven't seen in a long time. (Pictures to come)
